About Me

I first began practicing Yoga at the age of 7 from my Grandmother.  Dorothy Hadoke was a yoga teacher in the 1970's in Shropshire and she drew on a wealth of experience that characterised her practice.  In particular, together with my Grandfather, she lived in India/Pakistan both before and during the second world war and lived in hill forts along the foothills of the Himalayas.  She was an extraordinary woman and has been an inspiration to me.

I continued practicing yoga on and off through my formative years, always returning when the time was right.  Yoga never abandoned me.  I found yoga extremely helpful during my two pregnancies and determined that I would study to become a yoga teacher and pass on the knowledge and support that I had received.

Circumstances gave me the opportunity to begin my yoga teaching studies in early 2010.  I have trained at the CamYoga centre in Cambridge under some wonderful teachers:  Beverley Nolan, Hayley Winter, Abby Hoffman, Claire Missingham, Peter Connolly, Philip Xerri and Carol Trevor.  I qualified in 2011 with a Certificate in Yoga Teaching and continued my studies to gain a Level 3 CYQ Diploma in Yoga Teaching, the Camyoga Yoga Teaching Diploma.  I am also qualified to teach Yoga for Pregnancy.

In September 2014 I gained E-RYT (Yoga Alliance) registration by completing over 1,000 hours of yoga teaching and becoming recognised as an "Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher".

2020 brought many challenges to everyone and for me one of those challenges was converting my teaching to an online format.  I began offering the online classes as the first UK lockdown began in March 2020 and we continue to offer this new way of teaching as we move forward.

"Real life" classes have now resumed, but I am hugely grateful for the opportunity to continue to share these amazing teachings with you through the technology which has become available.  We will continue to offer Zoom as an option for those not able to join us physically.

In October 2021 we marked 10 years of yoga teaching at Longthorpe Village Hall. In February 2023 I completed a course to teach AquaYoga. This exciting new environment for the yoga classes gives brilliant joint support, help for balancing and water resistence for building strength.
